Wrexham’s Assembly Member, Lesley Griffiths has described news that a Wrexham company has received the Queen’s Award for Innovation as “very much deserved”.
The AM’s comments came after it was announced that Wrexham-based company, Callitech Ltd – who trade as Moneypenny – has been awarded the prestigious accolade by the Queen.
Based on Wrexham Technology Park, Moneypenny provides personalised telephone answering and outsourced reception services to businesses and employs over 120 staff. The company has a turnover of £4 million and handles more over five million calls per year. It was co-founded in 2000, by brother and sister, Rachel Clacher and Ed Reeves.
Lesley Griffiths visited Moneypenny last year, accompanied by the Assembly Government’s Deputy Minister for Regeneration, Leighton Andrews, to see for themselves how rapidly the company was expanding.
Commenting on news of the Award, Ms.Griffiths said: “Rachel and Ed are to be congratulated for this superb accolade. This Award is given to very few companies and in Moneypenny’s case, it is very much deserved.
“I visited Moneypenny last year and saw for myself the amazing work they do thanks to new technology. They are obviously market leaders in this very specialised area of business.
“The growth of the company has been phenomenal and I when I visited, I was told then of their expansion plans on the Technology Park. I am delighted they are now moving into additional premises and still plan to increase its workforce.
“Moneypenny’s success story is a shining example to other companies and entrepreneurs in Wrexham, of what can be achieved in business.”
